Welcome to Capri!
Welcome back, next stop Capri, positioned in the bay of Naples 50 mins from the mainland the island of Capri is a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of Naples packed will restaurants, villas, secluded beaches, winding streets and luxury designer shops Capri has something for everyone. After buying our tickets, we boarded the boat and found our seats before departing across the bay of Naples.
Capri is part of Campania and the Province of Naples.
On arrival at the port, we headed straight to the ticket office to buy a ticket for the cable car which will take you from the busy port directly to the main square Piazza Umberto. The cable car is a great way to get through the initial crowds at the port (remember to buy your ticket before queuing for the cable car). Once in the piazza we found a table and relaxed in the shade with a nice glass of wine.
Roman Emperor Augustus made the Island his own and built many villas and created many of the gardens that make up the stunning scenery, before Augustus, the Greeks inhabited the island around the 8th century BC.

One of the highest points on the island and best views is from the gardens of Augustus or Giardini di Augusto, there is a small charge to enter but itโs a great way to see the sea views and hundred or boats that are dotted around the coast line. There are plenty of benches to take a break and admire the range of colours from the many flowers featured in the gardens.

If you have your walking shoes on follow via Krupp which is awinding path down to the coast where you will find very narrow entrances to the beaches. Many of the beaches are private and charge an entrance fee but with the thousands of people that visit the island itโs a nice option to take in the sun and enjoy the crystal-clear sea and refreshing water.

There are some fabulous restaurants on Capri with a wide selection of fish caught in the waters surrounding the island. After you have eaten, if you feel like walking up the steep paths it can sometimes be a bit too much so if you prefer another option Capri has very cool and brightly coloured taxis that will take you back to the main port for a reasonable price, it is also a pleasant way to see the coast line and places that you wouldnโt get to see on foot.
For anyone looking to do some shopping: Via Vittorio Emanuele will keep you busy with its vast range of designer brands, all the top brands can be found here so treat yourself to some sunglasses or the handbag you always wanted!
Other tourist attractions include the Blue grotto, Punta Carena Lighthouse, boat tours and Marina Piccola.
When itโs time to head back to the mainland check your ticket and find the area that your boat will depart from , there are plenty of bars around the port area so itโs a perfect way to relax and reflect on the days adventure.

See you soon, next stop Venice!
